Woodland Pulp is situated in the St. Croix River Valley in Eastern Maine. The mill is adjacent to the St. Croix River which forms a natural boundary with a portion of the province of New Brunswick, Canada. Our mill is 40 miles northwest of the deep water port of Eastport, Maine which handles nearly all the mill's production destined for the export market.
The Woodland mill employs state-of-the-art air pollution control technology on all stationary sources. These sources are equipped with continuous emission monitors to help our skilled operators maintain compliance with our air emission license conditions. Numerous wastewater tests are conducted daily, 7 days a week by experienced technicians. These tests are conducted in the mill's state of Maine certified laboratory.
We have made significant capital investments in environmental controls for wastewater, air emissions, and solid waste compliance. For example we invested $35 million to comply with the US EPA Cluster Rule. Other annual investments in minimizing our mill's enviromental footprint continue to be made. Our mill has a strong history of Environmental Stewardship and collaboration with state, federal and provincial regulatory agencies.
